    I do not believe that wine is less water intensive than oranges.

      grape vines generally grow in warm dry places they don’t need as much irrigation, i think that might be the reason

    What is the definition of water usage? There are many technologies that can clean the water for reuse. There are not 17,000 liters of water in my chocolate bar… the water was used to clean the bean etc… then it is put back into the environment, hopefully after being properly treated.
