Journalist vs. geneticist in GMO battle

Michael Pollan, best-selling book author, invited Pamela Ronald, a plant geneticist, professor at the University of California at Davis to present her perspective on the benefits of genetic engineering of foods, an initiative Pollan has criticized but was open to discussing during his Edible Education class at the University of California at Berkeley in April, according to an article in the New Yorker. Ronald has the National Academy of Sciences and the World Health Organization supporting her claims that GMOs are safe to eat while Pollan acknowledges he’s ”lonely among my science-writing colleagues in being critical of the technology.”
