Don’t Believe the Hype

Apparently, fear is the best way to start or end food trends, and so-called food activists, food bloggers, and celebrities have made good use of the tactic. The Huffington Post reports that most food-based fear tactics are irresponsible and based on pure ignorance. The article refers to Dr. Oz’s recent admission before a congressional panel that he purposely distributes misleading information about foods and supplements to give viewers “hope.” The article also calls out the Food Babe, who has no training in food science or nutrition, for distorting facts and sensationalizing untruths to increase her notoriety as well as advertising dollars on her website.
